Positive vibes about this server! Post them here

Hi guys,

After seeing a lot of discussion on the forum i had the idea of listing all the things we actually enjoy because of the servers rules.

Personally I've had great joy playing the game so far. The biggest benefits are:

1: The community, actually seeing your guildies in the world and questing together
2: No quest helper which forces me to read the quests and makes it feel like I'm playing a real RPG, i had Witcher 3 vibes when being sent around the world and finally understood quests and zones after doing the quest more than 10times before in the last 20 years. (Found out the Stockades is actually the SW prison that has been taken over for example, lol!)

Please let's keep this thread clean of things you'd like to add but feel free to share your positive experiences/stories!

I’ve been loving it too man. I’ve been playing WoW 18 years now. This really is a breath of fresh air, no addons , playing the game the way it was designed. For the first time in years, I’m genuinely excited to come home and enjoy the game I fell in love with. It really feels like how it did 18 hrs ago

Meeting people you know randomly in unexpected places is the funniest feeling.

When I was still on bloodmyst Isle, I had just contacted "On a Journey" to join them (Hi Goorak btw) when I walked out of my tavern and stumbled unto an officer from the guild who invited me (I had not met a lot of people on the island beforehand ofc).
While questing there I kept meeting someone named Chronic, and then a day later I meet them in Stormwind and they just joined my guild too.
I did Deadmines with a priest and a mage, and I kept meeting the priest in weird spots (like in Elwyn Forest, even though we were both 20+, just here to farm ores and plants). I kept doing a few dungeons with the mage, we became friends, and at some point he asked me for BFD but it was too early for me. He told me he'd bu up much later at night. Night arrives and someone is looking for a BFD group, I join, mage friend offline. Sad. We're 4 in the group, I go grab a beer and when I'm back guess who just joined us, fellow mage !

Or being right next to someone on a flight path, given the size of the server, is funny too. Happened once.

It's refreshing getting back to the original feel of the game. Addons, especially quest helpers, make you feel like you're on autopilot. I actually want to take my time and enjoy the leveling experience once again.

I was never a big PVP'r so that did give me some trepidations about joining but I'm ok with it being a PVP server. Looking forward to playing here.

Getting back to the original feel was one of the major objectives of this server. I feel like we've accomplished this already in less than a week, it just feels different relative to the last time I played (Classic) a few years ago.

first off, great idea for a topic!

one thing that I didn't expect (or see coming) are the side effects of not having addons, more specifically meters. for one, not knowing the exact threat forces players into different talents and playstyles (especially varied by the kind of group you are in) since there is no exact moment when you know to drop threat (like for instance a sp throwing a shield on a pala tank just to "cool off" threat while fade is on cd and weakened soul falls off) the unknown offers a certain freedom. secondly, not etiquette-ing players by a dps/hps meter kind of brings everyone on an equal footing, where their contribution to the guild and to the server takes center stage (example: giving away greens and blues for free at a large scale reminds me that this server is not about me and what I can achieve, but about us as a whole, a feeling that is (sadly) unusual on most servers).

in general, the mentality shift that the server community brings feels wholesome and comforting.

to nuance a bit the part about etiquette-ing, I also play retail wow on a decently high level (never quit that) and the numbers game, the difficulty and the competition there promotes a very different mindset, since you always have a number at hand to filter out and evaluate a player's "worth" to you. I like that WoW for what it is and I also like TBC for what it is, 2 separate instances.

however

this server made me appreciate TBC like I haven't in many, many moons... it is first and foremost a community; not a large one, but the foundation is undeniably solid.

Cheers!

Happy to hear all your stories! I had a blast reading them and i can relate to them all! I especially like the 'not on autopilot' topic. I feel like i'm more present while playing, more in the moment and not in a 'i'm gonna be happy when i'm lvl 70' mindset.

Sidequestion, Fanadin, are you and the other admins playing? Havn't seen you around.

Enjoy the day!

I don't play as a normal player would but I'm always watching.

Hello there,

I've been playing on Felmyst 4 since launch and it seems like a very nice place to stay, it is a nice server to say "home". Scripting and quality of it is excellent. Every day I login i see small, miniscule things that can potentially improve my gear, players are more inclined to stop by, chat for a while or heck, even give you consumes or items.

I did cleared a few dungeons ( deadmines, wailing caverns and shadowfang keep ) and in the end i felt like im unstoppable ( no pun intended). Not sure is it a bug or intended, but thunderclap ability seems to be generating bonkers volumes of threat, its soo ridiculous that you can pull 4 mobs and just spam tclap, most of the time you're not going to loose aggro. If thats a bug, then please, leave it be. I feel like a lesser version of paladin. On my shadowfang keep run I even managed to pull 15 mobs and hold threat on all of them ( did used retaliation but still, moments like this makes a huge smile on my face).

I've discovered another thing that ups my gameplay tremendously. If you use a ranged weapon, you dont enter a combat state until the projectile have hit the target. Since my APM is soo high, I can shoot on target 1, then switch my target to 2 and charge before the projectile have hitted my target 1. Im almost certain this is not a bug, but shooting scripted properly. Because of this i can cleave two targets in a way that is different than my experience and adds to the warrior class mechanics. On most servers, if i shoot a target i enter combat state as soon as the projectile is fired.

The only downside of this realm is the lack of bag addon. Everything else is worth the time to sink into.

Someone whispers me if I'd sign their guild charter.

I say "sure". They invite me into a group and say "omw".

I look at the map and this guy is in another zone. I can't run to him because I'd just die to mobs due to my lvl. Then I watch on the map while he runs (not flies or rides) through the wilderness all the way to me.

He gets to me, I sign the charter, we chat a bit, trade some mats and consumes, and go our separate ways.

Such a tiny moment, but the fact that it stood out to me tells me that I'm not used to such interactions from playing on other servers.

I saw the reddit post this morning. No addons seems like a really interesting idea, im starting!

I was looking for a vanilla classic server and saw this reddit post. I wanted an addon free server since 15 years so that hyped me up. I also would not play if it was more than 1x exp or crossfaction or anything modded. Pretty happy wirh this. Also instantly thought about the great gummy beta server years ago and was twice as happy when I saw its the same project.

Keep it tgat way. Slow mode no addons. I even prefer low populated servers because even when Nostalrius was awesome I quit when the numbers got too high and anonymous. Less is more sometimes. I hope more people will join but so far my first play session today was great.

For people who are worried about a lower population than usual, keep in mind that server release timing was not optimal. I am probably not the only person here doing that, PoE did one of the most promising leagues a few days ago so that probably consumes everyone who likes grindy MMOs like old versions of Wow on x1 rates. I am coming back later after I scratched my itch with PoE and I bet a lot of other peoples will do as well.

I've always played WoW without any addons whatsoever (which caused some players to think I'm a weirdo), so this place should feel like home.

And speaking of being a weirdo, I'm the kind of player who isn't in a hurry to reach max level or do dungeons/raids. So if you find someone just chilling on a seashore and watching the sunset... this would probably be me. Or if you see someone sneaking around the most hidden and obscure places of the game world, this is probably me as well ;)

Loving the concept of no addons. This is as close as a perfect experience that you could hope for. Population is noticeably growing each day, even if just by a few people. I'm happy to level here!

Is a positive vibe being blacklisted from the only NA guild on the horde side because Ret seems to think we've talked before? Seems positive to me...
